If your property does not have a civic street address, for example agricultural land, a vacant parcel or a rural property identified by a legal land description, the standard address bar will not accept it. There is a way around this built into the listing form.
Use the custom address option
- Start your listing as normal with List a Space.
- At the Listing Location step, look directly underneath the address bar for "click here".
- That opens a custom address and map view.
- Enter the location in whatever form you have it. A legal land description such as
SE-14-19-29 W4Mis accepted here, as is a lot and concession, a parcel identifier or a plain description. - Drag the pin on the map to the correct parcel so the listing appears in the right place in search results.
- Continue with the rest of the listing as normal.
Any address is accepted in that view, so it will not reject a legal description the way the standard bar does.
Which listing type to choose
Agricultural and vacant land both go under Land. Rural parcels publish normally and appear in searches for the surrounding municipality or county.
Getting the pin right matters
Because there is no street address to geocode, the map pin is what determines where your listing shows up. If the pin is dropped in the wrong place, the listing may not appear in the searches you would expect. It is worth zooming in and placing it accurately.
